In the 17th century, chocolate was first introduced by Spain. Wiki says that chocolate is a vegetable. It comes from the cocoa beans and all beans are vegetables.

This is said by many and maximum people take it as a true statement. But it is not the actual truth. This is not a totally false statement also.

Chocolate is a sweet, brown food that comes from the cocoa bean. It is made by grinding roasted cocoa beans which come from cacao fruit. Then it turned into chocolate liquor, adding sugar and milk, and sometimes lecithin. 

Cacao plants are the only source of the actual cacao fruit which is the one and only source of chocolate ingredients. There are many forms of chocolate like dark chocolate, White chocolate, chocolate powder.

Difference between fruit and vegitable

To know whether chocolate is a fruit or vegetable, first, we should know what is actually considered a fruit.

Fruit is a term used to describe sweet or savory produce that comes from a specific plant. Botanically speaking, a fruit is the ripened ovary or carpel of a flowering plant that contains seeds. However, in culinary language, the term “fruit” is often used to describe any sweet or savory produce from a plant, regardless of whether it contains seeds.

Some common examples of fruit include apples, pomegranates, tomatoes, and pumpkins. Nuts are also technically a fruit, but they are not typically considered as such in culinary language. Instead, they are generally referred to as hard, oily, and non-sweet plants produced in shells.

While vegetables are not technically a fruit, the term is often used to describe savory or non-sweet produce from a plant. Some common examples of vegetables include zucchini, broccoli, and carrots.

These seeds are left to dry under sunlight, which may take around 3-5 days. Once the moisture of the seeds evaporates, they get ready for transportation. After the long way of the manufacturing process, we can get chocolate.

Since cocoa trees are famous as a fruit plant, and the pods are known as leguminous fruit, we can say that the chocolate comes from a fruit. However, some sources consider it as a vegetable also.
